Become a global health
LEADER
We are committed to creating sustainable and long-term links to the communities that we serve. The Global Health Leadership Programme (GHLP, previously known as Elective Aid) trip supports and complements our in-country efforts and that of partner organisations in improving healthcare outcomes for some of Bangladesh’s poorest people.
GHLP trips are short and there are limitations to transient healthcare provision. However, as a predominately diaspora-led organisation, our role is to help provide an understanding, form networks of like-minded individuals and build healthcare leadership credentials to enable young people to take an active role in strengthening healthcare systems in the future.
Register your interest and we will be delighted to discuss further.

Yes, your support helps us continue our activities abroad. Each volunteer is expected to raise £850 to help with the trip. We have found that previous participants have found this manageable. We provide support with fundraising activities. Financial limitations are always considered and should not prevent prospective volunteers from applying.
In addition to the fundraising target, volunteers raise will need to cover the costs of flights and food during their stay.
We are a Bangladeshi diaspora-led organisation. Our programmes work in collaboration with local healthcare providers to strengthen local healthcare systems. These programmes complement existing longer-term activities in the areas that we work in.
Elective Aid provides an unrivalled global health immersive experience and has been running since 2008. Previous Fellows have gone on to pursue varied careers but many maintain a global health interest either through healthcare management, innovation, research or leadership. We have supported Fellows with research proposals and projects where possible.
