Mayor of London’s Team London Health Ambassadors

We’re currently recruiting 300 London Health Ambassadors for the Mayor of London’s Team London. We’re looking for London-based university students who are passionate about better healthcare for all and have some time to spare. Selfless is an ambitious social enterprise that focuses on creating social value, with a specific interest in global health and healthcare. We work with the third sector, educational institutions, healthcare providers and government departments. You will be joining us at an exciting and demanding phase of scaling up our local and international activities.

Our work includes:

  • Influencing through engagement with opinion leaders and publishing research and policy
  • Promoting ‘skillanthropy’ – encouraging volunteering both locally and internationally to provide direct aid to those in need

The Programme Support and Business Development Officer will work across the organisation, working with other Selfless team members to ensure the effective delivery of programmes and the sustainability and longevity of the organisation. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced start-up with the prospect of helping to shape this growing organisation.

The post-holder will be expected to meet the following responsibilities:


- Utilise vantage point (i.e. working across all Selfless programmes) to identify and prepare recommendations for effective working and business development.
- Attend key internal and external meetings, preparing agendas and minutes where necessary.
- Manage the CEO diary, create written reports and conduct briefings with the CEO.
- Manage expenses and other transactions.
- Research and/or produce and/or proofread and/or sub-edit copy (e.g. a blog post for the Selfless website).
- Actively seek new income streams through grant and bid preparation.
- Help to maintain our social media presence.
- Present at events and meetings as a Selfless representative.

Programme Support:

- Assist with the preparation of financial and narrative reports, to meet the terms of
the grant agreements active across Selfless programmes.
- Build and maintain databases of key stakeholders for each programme.
- Undertake monitoring and evaluation activities.

Business Development:

- Build and maintain databases of potential customers/clients.
- Arrange meetings for the appropriate Selfless team members with potential customers/clients.
- Conduct market research and prepare recommendations for the development of business development and commercial strategies.

This role is suited for someone with entrepreneurial spirit, passion to tackle inequality with strong academic credentials.

On appointment, the post-holder will have the opportunity to discuss the above in more detail with his/her line manager: the Selfless COO.

The post-holder will be expected to provide sufficient evidence to the Selfless COO that he/she is meeting the above responsibilities, through frequent reporting.
